Hello all,
I’m Matthew, and I am excited to get to know you all!
I’m currently in my junior year at California State University, San Bernardino. I study geology and have both field and lab experience. I have taken many classes that I believe could be relevant to this project. These include History of life on earth, Mineralogy (self-explanatory), Igneous and Metamorphic Petrology (Igneous and metamorphic rock formation), sedimentology (all things sediments and sedimentary rocks), Groundwater Hydrology, and some general chemistry/math classes.
I also do field mapping of geologic units/ faults!!
I’m starting my undergraduate research soon (I haven’t chosen a topic yet), but as of now, I’m leaning towards Glacier mapping in the Sierra Nevadas.
On the personal side, I love hiking, Video games, and rock collecting (I have way too many rocks lol).
Anyways, if anyone has any geology-related questions or thinks I can be useful in some way, feel free to reach out. If I don’t know the answer, I have connections to other geologists/professors that I can ask. On Discord, you can find me as Matt R/00 18.

And yeah, like @Rathalos said, you join at a pretty good timing when we are actively working on different mineral types for the microbe environments.
