> But, as with the [number of cells in the multicellular stage](https://forum.revolutionarygamesstudio.com/t/multicellular-parts/1241/13), it makes much more sense when seen from a less literal standpoint. If your species tends to reproduce under certain _kinds of_ external conditions, then this continuity makes sense, even if it feels a bit strange that the setup is literally the exact same as it was before when you leave the editor.

Which is my exact reasoning for why I think it is fine to transfer compounds over in the current way, while still resetting the environment.

> I do agree with your point about it being all-or-nothing: if we reset the world on grounds that a bunch of time passes between different lives, then it would be a bit hypocritical to keep compounds. Carrying over the compounds from a prior life also breaks the “generation as a blank testing slate”.

> One thing that I will say that beyond the logical implications: each exit from the editor is meant to be an experiment of how your idea works in a new world. Resetting the world means that your build is being truly tested against the current environment, independent from the situation of your prior build. But if you carry over compounds directly from generations, how are you truly testing the current merit of your organism?

I think I’ve made my point about why I disagree, but I’ll follow the majority opinion here and alter the implementation so that it is a full blank slate each time.
