Hmmm, I have to say this is typically not what I observe, it seems like adding more ATP producing cell parts does not improve efficiency unless you also have prokaryotic proteins/cytoplasm. I would have to run the numbers to be sure. (Auto-evo energy calculations seem to come to the same conclusion as myself though).
This, I can imagine. Really, this goes for any metabolism that is not dependent on clouds/chunks/prey to survive. If you do need one of those, it’s quite easy to run out of food if you are too large. I don’t think that’s an uncommon comment from the community either. It came up during the chemosynthesis balance discussion for example.
I guess I will have to see after we have those systems implemented, whether there really is not enough incentive to use them. Though I have to emphasise again that if we implement something like this, auto-evo energy calculations need to change because the current simple osmoregulation cost already quite limits species size.
