Also an experienced programmer of 20+ years, although C# is not among my known languages, which means even if I"m not able to contribute code to the project, my game design will be aware of limitations of the medium (as such, expect me to focus, much like in my TTRPG TOY, on the most bang for buck, respecting developer time but also larger goals where possible.).

My college education, despite being a bachelor’s with high grades “focused” on computer science is 7 years of education, mainly due to me taking nearly every elective under the sun and touching into every major STEM field I could, meaning I also pull from a large breadth of knowledge.

My personal passion in Thrive is geared towards the society stage, although I have interest in most.

Welcome! I am also most interested in the Society stage, so you are in good company here.

While there has not been a whole lot of conclusive discussion about the Society and after stages here on the development forums there has been a fair amount on the community forums. You could search over there to see if any discussion about a topic has already been had.

At some point, it would be nice to organize a more complete view of the Society stage and the discussions had about different sections of it, as it is currently not all that easy to figure out what areas have good ideas to start from when figuring out how it the entire Society gameplay will work. Much of the discussion also likely happened on the old forums also, so it might help to talk to some long time forum members to see if they remember any important or useful discussions had in the past.

I think it would be great if we were able to have a more complete vision for the Society stage to be able to present alongside our vision for Thrive as a whole once 1.0 releases, even if still a rather preliminary one.

I am mostly working on developing a robust World Generation system that can handle real scale worlds with true scale societies on it, so I am mostly concerned with the underlying structures that can manage such detailed simulation of society and not so much the gameplay itself. But I would also be glad to discuss the gameplay as well if others are interested in developing the ideas more.

I’ve been around for about three years, and am the current design team lead. So if you want information on the status of specific concepts, don’t hesitate a second in reaching out. The current focus of the project is to finish out the Microbe Stage roadmap (Release Roadmap - Thrive Developer Wiki). A lot of concepts are generally written out, but of course, we find missing details when getting to implementation.
