Mine is going to be quite short as I’m not a part of the programming team. Another reason being that the part of the game my vision of the game focuses on is the space stage. I’m mainly hoping to assist in the scientific accuracy of the earlier stages, but it’s the space stage that I’ve always been really interested in with the structure of.
Ascension:
I’ve talked about this before as I’ve had a focus on figuring out how to ensure ascension tech isn’t a randomly acquired tech during the space stage. I’ve proposed various concepts, but the concept that seems to work well with others when I mentioned it prior was to involve the Super Massive Black Hole at the center of the galaxy. This wouldn’t be out right stated in the game, but players paying attention to some of the loading screens (yes this is in regards to my spec evo project for Thrive’s loading screens) and dialogue when talking to other space faring extraterrestrial civilizations will indicate a mystery involving the Super Massive Black Hole.
Space Civilizations:
Also something I’ve mentioned prior is that the civilizations encounter in the space stage should have various ideologies. While similar to the philosophy archetypes featured in Spore, there will be many more of them and the player’s civilization won’t receive one. The ideologies intention would be to make AI empires have specific reactions to various events within the space stage, especially when it comes to the creation of the ascension gate. This would also allow players to determine if they would have an ally become aggressive at them over the ascension gate’s construction.
De-Ascension:
I’ve seen no discussion on anything special when a player chooses to descend their civilization, but I would love to have a short cutscene where the player’s species realizes they have existed inside of a computer game and this revelation causes them to panic and descend, but not before removing the truth from their memories along with creating a hatred towards ascension gates. This could also flip a switch game wise that would allow the AI empires to create ascension gates, but the player would have to destroy each attempt to keep their empire happy.
