We should make sure that the large and small planets are still viable IRL. The large planets shouldn’t be so large that their gravity prevents rockets from leaving the atmosphere. For small planets (assuming they can be the size of Mars) may be more viable by making them the moon of a gas giant to provide tidal forces to keep the interior warm and tectonics active and to ensure their is a magnetic field to keep the life safe from solar winds, however the gas giant shouldn’t be too large as we want to avoid the radiation belt that gas giants have that could make life impossible. This could be fixed by keeping the planet further away from the gas giant so it is on the edge of this radiation belt.
