Currently Binding is only available when two cells in binding mode collide, which makes binding hard, and when the binding is applied the two cells are always somehow superposed, causing errors. What if we allow binding in a short distance (maybe no more than 5)?
I think there’s two separate issues here, one is the physics problem, and other is the gameplay frustration in trying to swim into other cells of your species.
For the first one it’s a bug, and it already has an open issue:
As for the second, I’ve been thinking for a while that we should add a new “signaling agents” organelle to the game (I’m not sure if I’ve talked about this before). It would have a few unlocked commands you can give cells of your species like:
- Follow me / swim into me for binding
- Run away from here
- Attack that cell / defend me
