Dligr - New Programmer

Hello everyone! I am the new programmer here, going by the name dligr. I have already made a number of contributions to the project on Github, so now I decided to properly join the team.

As a programmer, I specialize in more mathematics-related fields, which is what I especially hope to help with. In the past, I have already worked on pet-projects related to mesh generation, so I decided to start by trying to do exactly this - mesh generators for both microbe membranes and Late multicellular creatures. I will post more information on it as try to I get them done.

Anyway, that’s about it. I have been following this project for a long time, so I’m happy to finally be able to contribute to it’s development.

Welcome to the team, glad to have you onboard.

And hopefully you don’t meet the same fate as the people who tried to work on 3d membranes and convolution surfaces before and ended up disappearing (well really they just became inactive on the team but it is more fun to talk about cursed features that cause people trying to work on them to “disappear”).

Hello Dligr!

I’m excited to hear that you are interested in the procedural mesh mechanics in Thrive! Graphics programming has always been a field that we have struggled to get assistance with, so procedural graphics has been consistently pushed back throughout development.

Despite that, we have held some fairly substantial discussions as we aimed for what we want and how we might achieve it. The following forum threads should be relevant to that.

I understand that these can be quite the slog to go through, so feel free to just skim through it all to get a general idea on what it is we are aiming for. And if you have any questions about the fine details, just let us know and we’ll give you the run-down.

Look forward to working with you!
